The African Lioness have many features but their teeth are one of the main features. The main features are teeth, whiskers, tail, claws and eyes. Lions have 3 types of teeth:
The 1st is called the incisors which is the smallest at the front of the mouth and that is usually for gripping and tearing the meat.
The 2nd one is called the canines, they are the 4 largest teeth. these teeth are to tear the skin away from the meat.
The 3rd one is called the carnissial, the sharpest out of all of them. They are the furthest away from the mouth and they are usually to cut the meat.
Without teeth, lions wouldn't be able to eat, hunt especially when they are hunting or fighting.

FEATURE NO.2
As claws have been listed as one of the main features above, it is important that lions have claws because, they wouldn't be able to grab onto things such as their prey.
The claws are made of keratin, which is the same substance as human fingernails and toenails. They consist of lots of layers, which eventually break off to reveal an even sharper claw underneath. Also Lions sharpen their claws by scratching trees to keep them extra pointy. |
FEATURE NO.3
The African Lioness have very sensitive hairs on the face, close to the nose, which are used to help them feel the things around them.
Each whisker has a black spot at its root and the pattern that these spots make is different for every lion just like how we have different fingerprints to others. This makes the whiskers a main feature and helps the lions feel their prey and knows whats going on. |
